I just placed an order for my domain name and web hosting services. How long does it take for HostingCity to setup my account?

Upon completion of your order, your account gets setup on our servers immediately. If a new account, we must verify your information which can take anywhere from 1 to 24 hours. If you just updated your nameservers to point to our servers, it can take from 24-48 hours for the information to update globally. If you just purchased your domain through HostingCity, it will again take from 24-48 hours to update.

I have not been notified that my account has been set up and it has been over 24 hours.

The entire process could take up to 48 hours, but should this happen and you do not hear from us, feel free to send us an email and we will be happy to check up on it.

What DNS should my domain name point to?

What does 99.99% uptime mean? If my server is down more than 99.99% during month, are there any refunds?

HostingCity guarantees that a customer’s website will be up and available at least 99.99% of the time, excluding scheduled maintenance outages, in any given calendar month, or they will receive one (1) month of web hosting services FREE.

For server / web site unavailability for four (4) for more consecutive hours (at one time or during the entire month), HostingCity upon customers request will credit customers account a full month of service for that web site. Credits will not apply to charges for services other than the monthly fees.

In order to receive credit the customer must submit an email to within 7 days of the outage. The date and approximate time must be included in the email. After HostingCity confirms the outage, a credit will be applied to your account within 2-3 business days.

Is my web site backed up?

Does e-mail and FTP traffic count against my bandwidth limit?

Yes. All FTP and incoming/outgoing e-mail traffic counts against your total bandwidth. You can log into cPanel to retrieve your bandwidth limits and current monthly usage.

What happens if I exceed my allocated bandwidth?

You will receive an automatic e-mail message warning you that you have reached 80% of your contracted limit. This should give you plenty of time to contact HostingCity and purchase more bandwidth. Once you have exceeded your limit, your account is suspended for the rest of the current month.

What control panel is offered with your hosting packages?

HostingCity offers cPanel based hosting plans. cPanel is a web-based control panel that allows you to easily manage every single aspect of your hosting account. With the touch of a button, you can add email accounts, manage subdomains, access your files, perform backups, setup shopping cart applications, enable pre-installed CGI and PHP scripts, and much more.

    Do you support CGI/Perl scripts?

    Yes, every site comes with its own CGI-BIN to allow you to run your own Perl scripts.

    Should I need to change my password regularly?

    It is a good idea to change all of your passwords occasionally. By changing your password on a regular basis and using numbers and capital letters in your password, you can protect your accounts from unauthorized access.
